What a Kawartha maple does to an RV roof
Tree cover is the defining roof condition in the Kawarthas. Maple sap bakes into a film that ordinary washing won’t shift, and nothing bonds to it, which matters the day you want sealant or coating to stick. Oak and pine drop debris that dams water on slideout tops, and shade keeps membranes damp long after rain, so seams live wetter here than roofs parked in the open.
Then there are the branches. Every windstorm drops limbs on trailers somewhere between Lindsay and Coboconk, and impact damage is sneaky. The membrane cracks wider than the visible dent, sometimes without the dent looking like much at all. That is why we push inspection before repair on any strike, and photograph everything in case insurance enters the picture.

Local questions
Trees dropped branches on my trailer roof. What should I do?
Book an inspection before sealing anything. Impact damage often cracks the membrane beyond the visible dent, and we document everything in case you need it for insurance.
My roof is covered in sap. Can it just be coated over?
No. Sap is a release layer, and coating over it schedules the coating’s failure. It needs proper removal and de-chalking first. That prep is most of the labour, and it’s the part that makes the coating last.
